Single Tooth Implants

One missing tooth changes how you chew, speak and smile — and puts the teeth around it under strain. A dental implant replaces it permanently, without touching your healthy neighbouring teeth.

Single tooth implant with crown being placed
Overview

A new tooth from the root up.

A dental implant is a small titanium post that takes the place of your missing tooth's root. Over a few weeks it fuses with your jawbone — a process called osseointegration — creating a foundation as stable as a natural root. A custom porcelain crown is then secured on top, colour-matched to your smile.

Unlike a bridge, an implant doesn't rely on grinding down the healthy teeth either side of the gap. And unlike a partial denture, it never comes out — you brush it, floss around it and eat with it exactly like your own tooth.

Every implant at The Implant Standard is planned digitally first. CBCT 3D imaging maps your bone volume, nerve position and bite before surgery, so placement is precise to the millimetre.

Why patients choose an implant

  • Permanent. The fixture fuses with your bone and is designed to last decades with good care.
  • Protects neighbouring teeth. No grinding down healthy teeth, unlike a traditional bridge.
  • Preserves your jawbone. An implant stimulates the bone the way a natural root does, helping prevent bone loss at the gap.
  • Looks and works natural. A custom crown matched to your teeth in shape and shade — most people can't pick it.
  • No daily hassle. No adhesives, no soaking, no removal. Brush and floss as normal.
The process

Your implant journey, step by step.

01

Free consultation & 3D scan

A full exam, intraoral scans and CBCT 3D imaging assess your bone and confirm you're a candidate — with a fixed, itemised quote before anything begins.

02

Digital planning

Your implant position is planned on your 3D scan, working around nerves and sinuses and setting up the ideal crown position first.

03

Implant placement

A precise, guided procedure to place the titanium fixture — usually quicker and more comfortable than patients expect. Sedation and GA options available.

04

Healing & osseointegration

Over the following weeks the implant fuses with your jawbone. A temporary tooth can be worn so you're never left with a visible gap.

05

Your crown fitted

A custom porcelain crown is secured to the implant — bite-tested, polished and ready to use.

06

Ongoing care

Regular check-ups and cleans at either location keep your implant and gums healthy for the long term.

Common questions

Single Tooth Implants — answered.

How long does a single implant take from start to finish?
Most single implant cases take 3–6 months from placement to final crown, most of which is quiet healing time while the implant fuses with your bone. If a tooth needs to be extracted first, your dentist will map the full timeline at your consultation.
Will I be without a tooth while it heals?
No — for visible teeth, a temporary crown or bridge keeps your smile complete while the implant integrates.
Am I too old (or too young) for an implant?
Implants can be placed once the jaw has finished growing — from roughly the early twenties onwards there's no upper age limit, provided your bone and general health are suitable. The 3D scan at your consultation confirms this.
What if I've been told I don't have enough bone?
Bone grafting can rebuild volume where it's needed, and in many cases modern implant positioning avoids grafting entirely. Get a second opinion with a CBCT scan before ruling yourself out.
