How dental implants work

Three parts. One permanent tooth. Here's the journey.

01

Free consultation & 3D imaging

A full exam, digital scans and CBCT 3D imaging map your bone, nerves and bite — so your implant is planned to the millimetre before surgery.

02

Precise implant placement

The titanium fixture is placed into the jaw in a guided procedure — with sedation or general anaesthesia available if you'd rather sleep through it.

03

Healing & osseointegration

Over the following weeks the implant fuses with your bone, becoming a rock-solid foundation — the biology that makes implants permanent.

04

Your final teeth fitted

A custom crown, bridge or full arch is secured to the implant — colour-matched, bite-tested and built to be used like natural teeth.

All-on-4 · Full-arch teeth

A full arch of fixed teeth. As few as four implants.

If you're missing most or all of your teeth — or facing the loss of failing teeth — All-on-4 replaces the entire upper or lower arch with a fixed bridge anchored on 4–6 precisely angled implants.

Teeth the same day. In most cases a fixed provisional bridge is attached on the day of surgery — you never go without teeth.
Grafting often avoided. Angled rear implants use your existing bone, so many patients skip bone grafting entirely.
Fixed, not removable. Your new teeth stay in — no adhesives, no soaking, no slipping at dinner.
Sleep through it. The full procedure can be completed under sedation or general anaesthesia.

Sleep dentistry · Sedation & GA

Anxious about surgery? Sleep right through it.

Fear stops more people replacing their teeth than cost does. That's why implant and All-on-4 treatment can be completed under sedation or general anaesthesia — you rest, we work, and you wake up with the hard part done.

Oral & IV sedation — deeply relaxed and drowsy, with little or no memory of the appointment.
General anaesthesia — fully asleep for longer surgical visits such as All-on-4, managed with an anaesthetist.
Gentle by default — even without sedation, treatment is planned to be as calm and comfortable as possible.
Patient resting calmly during sleep dentistry
Making it affordable

Quality implants, within reach.

New teeth are an investment — but they shouldn't be out of reach. Both locations offer flexible ways to spread the cost, claim on the spot, and in eligible cases access your super.

Option 01

Interest-free payment plans

Spread your treatment over manageable instalments with humm and Zip — options with no deposit and 0% interest periods available on approved applications.

Option 02

HICAPS on-the-spot claims

Claim your private health fund rebate instantly at either location — you only pay the gap on the day.

Option 03

Staged treatment plans

Larger cases can be sequenced in stages, so costs are spaced across your treatment journey rather than paid all at once.

Option 04

Early release of super*

Eligible patients may access superannuation early for medically necessary dental treatment such as implants and All-on-4. We provide the clinical documentation to support your application.

*Early release of superannuation is subject to ATO approval and eligibility criteria under compassionate release provisions. Payment plan approval is subject to the provider's terms and credit assessment. Our team will give you a personalised, itemised quote at your consultation before any treatment begins — no surprises.

Free implant consultation

Start with a scan, not a commitment.

Your free implant consultation includes a full exam, intraoral scans and advanced 3D imaging to map your personalised treatment plan — with clear pricing and payment options before you decide anything.

Prefer online? Book via Grey Street Dentist or Synergy Dental Group.

Common questions

Before you ask — answered.

How much do dental implants cost?
A single dental implant typically ranges from $4,500 to $6,500 depending on your clinical needs, with full-arch All-on-4 treatment quoted individually after 3D imaging. Every patient receives a fixed, itemised quote at their free consultation — and payment plans, HICAPS claiming and early release of super* can all help spread the cost.
Does getting an implant hurt?
Most patients are surprised how comfortable the procedure is — the area is fully numbed, and many describe recovery as easier than a tooth extraction. If you're anxious or facing a longer visit, sedation and general anaesthesia options mean you can sleep through the entire procedure.
Am I a candidate for All-on-4?
All-on-4 suits people missing most or all teeth in an arch, or those with failing teeth headed that way. Because the rear implants are placed at an angle to use your existing bone, many patients who were told they need bone grafting are still candidates. A CBCT 3D scan at your free consultation gives a definitive answer.
How long do implants last?
With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, the implant fixture itself can last decades — it fuses with your jawbone and functions like a natural tooth root. Crowns and bridges attached to implants may need renewal over time, just like natural teeth need care.
Can I really use my super to pay for treatment?
In eligible cases, yes. The ATO allows early release of superannuation on compassionate grounds for medically necessary dental treatment. We provide the clinical reports and quotes required for your application, and our team can walk you through the process at your consultation.*
Which location should I choose?
Whichever is easier for you. Grey Street Dentist in St Kilda serves bayside and inner Melbourne, while Synergy Dental Group in Parkdale covers the south-east. The same digital planning workflow and clinical standards apply at both — and your records move with you if needed.
